The Portuguese anis escarchado is distinguishable from other anis cordials by the aniseed branch that is inserted into every bottle. The sugar in the anis crystalizes around the branch giving it the look of a crystalized tree. This cordial may be mixed into specialty cocktails or served very chilled on its own.
