Bacardí Oakheart Spiced rum is was first launched in 2011, presumably meant to dethrone Captain Morgan. They claim it “honors the fierce-loyalty, stout heart and unwavering resolve of legendary and modern day adventurers.” It is aged or “mellowed” briefly in American White Oak prior to bottling. They note it has a hint of smokiness and suggest mixing with cola.

About the Producer:
Bacardi Rum was founded in 1862 in Santiago, Cuba by Don Facundo Bacardi Masso. The brand became inextricably linked to Havana, the daiquiri, and the Cuba Libre (rum and coke) at the turn of the century and through the gilded age. The company was strong until the Communist takeover in 1962. The plant was relocated to Puerto Rico where it remains to this day as one of the largest rum producers on earth. Today, it has also acquired a number of spirits over recent years and today have sales in excess of $5 billion. While the original company was founded in Cuba it’s totally absent from the Communist country today and headquartered in Bermuda.
