This is the sort of rum you sip, not mix with a cocktail. It’s a pure sugarcane rum that’s aged 8 years, giving it a rich and refined taste absent the sweetness of less ambitious varietals. Perfect on a hot day, or accompanying a good cigar. Think of it as Scotch for the tropics. If you’re going to have a rum and coke, get the cheaper bottle, aged for only 4 years. The extra refinement of the 8 will be lost once mixed.
