The Eagle Rare brand was introduced by Seagrams in 1975 as a high-end bourbon to compete with Wild Turkey, and was produced primarily at their Lawrenceburg distillery (now Four Roses). It was offered at 10 years and 101 proof. The brand moved to New Orleans when purchased by Sazerac in 1989, and eventually started to be produced at Buffalo Trace. It was discontinued in 2005 in lieu of their 90 proof version. The name is also carried on in the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection as Eagle Rare 17. See also the Seagrams Timeline for more info.
