Sambuca is a liquorice-flavoured liqueur that derives its flavour from the gentle cold infusion of the elder bush (known in Latin as ‘sambucus’). The fruit from the elder bush is steeped in alcohol at very cold temperatures. The flavourful mix is then aged for 4 months and is cut to proof before bottling.

The Silvio Meletti was founded in 1904 to produce the anisette liqueur first invented in 1870 by the personage Silvio Meletti. It has been in continuous operation since producing several different varieties of classic Italian liqueurs. It is still sited at Ascoli-Piceno.
