When Joseph Washington Dant started distilling whiskey in the 1830s, he was completely broke and couldn’t afford a proper still. He famously hollowed out a log and started using it as a log still. When the popularity of his bourbon grew, J.W. Dant bought a copper still and established the first Dant distillery. In 2021, descendants of J.W.
