Just like the dawn of a new day, another limited edition Orphan Barrel bourbon from Diageo is upon us. Scheduled for release this month is the new 15 year old Forged Oak whiskey, following in the footsteps of the well received by consumers and reviewers alike Lost Prophet bottling.

The Forged Oak bourbon, according to Diageo, was made in the New Bernheim Distillery between 1997 and 1998 before being aged in the famous Stitzel-Weller whiskey storage facilities in Louisville, Kentucky. Its mash bill is mostly corn, consisting of 86% of this grain type as well as 8% barley and 6% rye.

The packaging for this particular bottling, which is the fifth release for Orphan Barrel, highlights an elk on a brushed metallic label. Forged Oak, unlike one off releases from this old whiskey project such as Old Blowhard, will have future offerings made available as the whiskey continues to mature.
