Pisco, the (unofficial?) adult national beverage of Chile. While Pisco originated in Peru, the Chileans are justifiably proud of their own Pisco brands, and are quick to share them with newcomers. Chilean Pisco is an aged, fermented drink made from the Muscatel grape. The largest producer of Pisco is the Capel company located in the Elqui Valley on the outskirts of Vicuna about an hour’s drive from La Serena.
