Art in the Age Root Liqueur is an amaro-style bitters liqueur made from a blend of 13 herbs that include anise, allspice, cardamon, cinnamon, spearmint, lemon, black tea, wintergreen, clove, orange, nutmeg, sugar, and birch bark. It is an homage to the “root tea” made from in Pennsylvania in the early decades of America. They say that the root tea, absent alcohol, came to be called “root beer” during Prohibition. While sweetened, it should be considered a sweet-styled liqueur but in the “bitters” family of spirits.
