The art of distillation has been passed down from father to son for generations. We still make our gins and genevers the very same way as our founder, Simon Rutte, did in 1872 from the small back room in our Dordrecht distillery: with love, by hand.

Simon was able to add exotic spices and fruits to his creations because they were transported to the ports of Dordrecht by sailing ships. His spirits quickly gained in popularity, after which he decided to convert the front of his family’s pub into a liquor store. To this day, this is where you’ll find the Rutte shop
