Built: 1974. Current Owner: Distiller Company Ltd. Production Capacity: unknown. House style: Fruity with an oily body and a lively spirity character. Pittyvaich was the last distillery to be built in Dufftown, in 1975. It was built next door to the Dufftown distillery in the grounds of Pittyvaich farm, having been designed to mirror the Dufftown workings. Pittyvaich’s four stills were exact replicas of the four employed at Dufftown, and the two distilleries share warehousing facilities. The spirit that was produced does differ to that of Dufftown and there are people who will argue for both sides as to which is the better. Pittyvaich was mothballed in 1993, and it is unlikely that it will ever produce again. The distillery was demolished in 2002.
